SafeShellVPN is a commercial VPN app. Its main difference is App Mode, which lets different apps use different server regions at the same time, next to a normal Global Mode that covers the whole device.
Why it is on my list
The reason it is on my list is App Mode. Being able to send one app through a VPN location while everything else stays normal is handy if you game or stream from abroad.
Who it suits
- People who want different regions for different apps at the same time
- Anyone who wants a simple VPN app with a streaming focus
Who should skip it
- You want a long, independently audited track record
- You need a very large server network
What is in it
- App Mode lets you send different apps through different VPN locations at the same time.
- A no-logs policy and its own protocol, called ShellGuard.
- Apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Apple TV, smart TVs and Apple Vision Pro.
- Up to 5 devices on one account.
- A stated 7-day money-back guarantee.
How to start
- 01
Install the app on your device.
- 02
Choose Global Mode for everything, or App Mode to pick which apps use the VPN.
- 03
Connect to a server in the country you want.
Other options worth a look
The big names have longer track records and published audits. SafeShell is a newer service whose main selling point is App Mode, so it fits people who want to split traffic by app. Read the refund terms and test it on the content you care about inside the refund window.
What I would look at first
- 01
It is a newer provider with a smaller network than the big names, and its no-logs claim has not been independently verified as far as I could find.
- 02
Streaming services may block VPNs or forbid using them to change region. Read each service's terms.
- 03
Several articles about it are promotional, so check the vendor's own listing for current details.
